True Love

I said

“Look up, there’s a mountain

We shall go up and come down, shall we?

I hear someone singing from a distance and

I know that there’s someone here

Other than just you and me

So, let’s follow the voices

We shall go up and come down, shall we?”

“As you say, my love” said She.

Twenty-two, August, Twenty-eighteen.

“Is it too hard to get over the ones we love?

Is it painful, to move on?

I don’t know.

There’s nothing but vehemence all over the place.

So, what could possibly heal my heart?

Would it be love, again?

I’m afraid I’d stop for it’d make things worse again.

I can’t love anyone anymore because I still think that I’m in love with you.

I should leave that there.

There, she left. I had to let her go. She was perfect. Things weren’t perfect. But, she was. She had to go for she had to accomplish what she loved. I had to leave her. I was harsh. I had to be, or else, she wouldn’t leave.

Solitude, that was where I stayed for I didn’t want anyone to see me breaking down.

Shattered.”

Back to the Present.

“Look, I’ve been waiting for so long to tell you something. But, in order to hear me, we need to get to the peak. What do you say?

Maybe you’d say something too. Three words, remember this.”

“Okay, let’s get going!” Oh, that was loud. The birds flew away out of terror. Thanks to my soothing voice!

“Okay dear! To the peak first” she scorned as she was struggling to keep up the pace with me.

I agree to the fact that “Nature is beautiful” but, there she was, jumping over rocks and hurdles. She was relentless.

Look at her eyes

Oh, is this true love?

Somebody just tell me that it is

For I’ve fallen for her.

I’m stuck in an abyss and

I find no way out

For this is the place

I’m supposed to be.

That is, in love

True love, this is.

“Hooray! Finally, we’re here! Oh, just look at the world! It’s so beautiful, and small!” She jumped with joy.

“Yes! It is beautiful indeed.”

We were on top of the hill. The combination was just perfect – Sapphire and the Emerald joined together. So romantic!

“So, are you ready? Three words!” Her eyes gleamed as she spoke.

“Okay, so you go first!” I laughed. I wanted her to say what she felt. Whatever I wanted to tell her could wait.

She came closer and held my hands. I shuddered. “I love you.” She whispered into my ears and moved back. She pulled me closer and cuddled me.

“Okay, it’s your turn now!” She said as she continued cuddling me.

I released her clasp around me and I turned her around and covered her eyes with my trembling fingers.

“Okay, we aren’t dancing are we? I think that you need an extra word to complete your sentence because I just told you what I felt. A reply from you should be a word longer, right?” She said as she held my fingers which blocked her sight from seeing me.

“No my dear. Three is just fine”

“Oh, how sweet!” She blushed

“Hey, where are you? I can feel your hands but you’re not speaking. Is something wrong? Release me, will you?” She was confused!

I gave a thrust from behind her, strong enough for her to move away from me.

“Go die, witch!” I said as she could still hear me.

Perhaps, she didn’t hear me as she was in mid-air, struggling to get a strong hold onto a rock or something which could keep her from falling down.

I saw her until she disappeared into the darkness. I turned around and walked away imagining the fall from a cliff. It should have been a thrilling ride. I can still bet on that.

I pulled a notepad out of my pocket and wrote down –

I’m still in love with the first.

I’m sorry.

  1. Very well written with powerful imagination and an unexpected ending. What a pity he treated her like that. (Well I have assumed the first person narrator is a man, but could also be a woman)

    1. Thank you so much, ma’am! I’m so glad to hear from you again. The way he treated her was pretty bad because he has had this experience of falling in love over and over again and realising that his first love was the best one and also regretting his mistake – to leave her. So, yes. The narrator is a Man. He’s ‘Me’ to be precise. This story is actually set in the future, where I don’t get what I deserve, that is, True Love. Love happened just once, that’s the ‘first love’ and whatever happened after that was just meaningless and all that which didn’t include this ‘True Love’ due to which he decides to get rid of them all.

      1. We learn from our mistakes and fall in love more than once throughout our lives. Time is the best healer, so keep your spirits high. Anyway, lovely writing and very honest.

      2. That’s right. We learn from our mistakes. But, I don’t think that I should fall into it ever again because repeating the same mistake would be painful (I’m not saying that what I did earlier was a mistake but, it’s better if I stop now or else I would end up making more of them. I wouldn’t live with all those mistakes.). Time is a healer and I hope that it does it’s best. Thank you, again!

      3. Yeah. It’s really a very bad time for me at the moment. I just hope that I get better and strong. I also hope the same to happen to them as I have no idea what’s happening to them. I hope that we get over all of this.

  3. ohhh my god….that was horrific but yet so beautifully written! couldn’t actually express my emotions for this one! this indeed was a story with this twisted ending that no one saw coming! I guess all I can say is, I was actually smiling and thinking that love is in the air and suddenly I felt like someone pushed me over a cliff and now I am falling!

      1. And I think I didn’t even found what really a love is all about….it is a feeling that i am still waiting to come to me…yet reading your post was quite something…its very rare that some post you actually feel them rather than just reading..

      2. I can assure you that it’s worth the wait. It’ll come when you’re ready for it. But, the thing with it is that you’ll never know when it hits you. Just stay calm and enjoy your life, responsibly. Stay happy. Thank you so much, again. Have a great weekend.

    1. I don’t know! Things just don’t occur by accidents. They just happen to educate us. We learn, everyday, no matter how shallow the subject is. Well, that’s what I think. True love, yes!
