Balancing Equations

It was a bright sunny day but we were forced to sit in a classroom where nothing could be seen if there’s no artificial light source. I think that’s well exaggerated.

I sat on the first row from the blackboard just to make sure that the lecturer doesn’t look at me if someone threw paper planes at someone else.

I tried to listen to whatever the lecturer was trying to explain. It was something about chemical equations but I was interested in looking at someone who sat exactly adjacent to me. Both of us were seated at two different sides of the classroom where a bench was placed in between us which occupied four students.

She was so beautiful! My mind sang to me when I found her gleaming eyes hidden in the dark. Also, she was blocked by someone who sat next to her. I desperately waited for the other person to change their posture.

The best moment was when she looked at me when I looked at her. She smiled and didn’t look away. It lasted for a while until I realised that I was caught red-handed by her. I quickly turned myself towards the blackboard only to find my lecturer who was waiting for me to look at him.

“Pavan! Stand up. Explain the Gattermann-Koch reaction.” Exclaimed the frustrated Chemistry lecturer.

Ludwig Gattermann and Julius Arnold Koch… Congratulations, guys. I’ve got an assignment to write.

“I tell you people to go home after college but you go to the bars instead!”

I was terrified.

Okay. This was just a short story and not a science post.

Click baits waste a lot of time indeed.

  1. I just lovvvvve the way you describe situations. This is so realistic, I could totally find myself sneaking at you guys from some bench at the back. 😂 Loved this little story, but what happened after? I’d love it if you could continue this in the form of more short stories. So much fun to sneak a peek into someone’s life. 💙

    1. Well, that incident occurred about three years ago. But the memories are still fresh and I cherish them every now and then. The thing is that I don’t write stories in a chronological order. I just write randomly and post them here. Thank you so much for going through the post and for compliments. Keep supporting!

I don’t even remember talking to her. I only know that I waved hands at her whenever I saw her outside the college. It’s been a long time since I thought about it!

  5. But, I don’t know why, such things always happen in Chemistry classes. Lucky for me, I was able to interact with her, and sit next to her while talking on the first seat for the next few chemistry classes.
